Q: To EQ or not to EQ?

Whether to incorporate equalization is the question many people have when it comes to adjusting their sound systems. Here's what Gary Dayton, customer service and tech specialist for Thiel Audio advises: "Don't use an equalizer unless you've exhausted your other options such as modifying speaker placement and listener position. Also, you wouldn't want to use an EQ to compensate for poor-quality gear. I try to do everything possible to avoid disrupting the electrical signal path between the recorded media and the speaker."
