Q: Which display is right for your space?

The Big Room

If you've set aside a room for a home entertainment system or have carved out some space in a basement, a front projector is the way to go. You'll need to darken the room so the picture won't wash out, which means this isn't the choice for spaces with lots of light or windows. Also be sure you have enough room for a projector to shine-and enough space for a screen.

Secondary Spaces

Kitchen? Home Office? Bath? Think small, think flat, think LCD. You can even mount these units under cabinets, on the wall, or in bookcases. And the small ones don't cost as much.

The Small Room

Think flat panel: Either a plasma-based set or an LCD will do. You can hang it on the wall so it takes up no space. Just remember that you also have to run the wires, so think about hiding them.

Family Room Fun

As long as you can cut the glare, a plasma TV is a great choice for a family room entertainment system. It takes up little to no floor space and has a picture that's getting better and better. If you can afford it, go for it.

The Sunny Side

Got a bright room with lots of glare? Or do you like to watch TV with the lights on? An LCD TV may be the best choice: Either a flat-panel LCD that hangs on the wall or a 3LCD rear-projection set can show a good picture in a bright room.
